No paypal donate = forum ads.

EDIT
Well I finally got around to adding the code for Supporters here at TWP, and found a good reason to donate! If you donate $10 or more to the site, the ads here on the forum will automatically be disabled. Look for a real post about this soon.

Hardly noticed. I don't think they are that bad tbh, only problem is they don't scroll properly with the rest of the page, but meh, its not bad, If it keeps the site up it keeps the site up.

Actually, what I might do is make it so that Supporters (people who donate) have ads disabled for them.

I don't see any crime in that.

Servers cost money. Your time costs money.
It is perfectly legitimate, and may in fact allow the site to grow more by buying space for the download database, and things like that.

And google ads aren't very flashy in the grey/blue interface of TWP, so they aren't that annoying if you don't donate.

I got a strict policy about ads:
Don't Click On Them. Whatever They Say.

So do whatever you want, if it earns you money you need to keep the site in the air, I don't care. I won't use the ads, anyway.

If I would be able to explain it properly to my parents, I sure would donate. But I just don't see that happening. "Mom, dad, I want to donate to this internet community..." nah, sounds like crap, will have to wait untill later...

i don't mind the ads, but you took away the "most recently posted" links on the right that i used a LOT. you could put those below the ads, you know. that just made the site so nice and user friendly. now i have to go hunting all over the place for the new posts. blech.

Yeah, I purposly went for a similar color scheme to try and blend in with the forums as much as possible as it is.

The fact of the matter is that me and f0rkz pay for the server out of pocket. For a little while we were getting some okay donations ($5 here, $20 there) and that was enough to justify not having ads. I really didn't want to put them, but the donations stopped and I don't have a choice.

And really unless you're like 13, or your parents think the Internet is evil, I can't imagine they'd care about $10. Maybe that's just me though.

Even though Hober showed you the light already, I use that link a lot and it didn't change. It is still at the bottom of the forum, where it's always been.

On a side note, I am working on an updated layout for the forums, so all of those links will be on a left/right hand menu soon.

I agree with iamfractal, the recent posts bar was a major convenience and it is a disappointment that it wont be there anymore. But i guess it had to be done for the site to stay up. I would donate but i doubt my parents would allow it (i'm only 13).

Wow I never thought people would use that thing. I've added it back for now, like I said the site is probably going to get a redesign so it might move around again.
