I am interested in using some of the Portal music in a video project. How does someone contact Valve or their agents to negotiate Music usage?

I want to support Valve.

If it's an homage they generaly don't care, the soundtrack is free.

There should be emails on their site if you want to use it commercially.

I believe if the project is never going to be publicy released, then using their soundtrack does not matter. If the project is a mod, or something you plan on releasing outside your family, then I would contact valve at:

[email protected]

This E-mail is for the sdk and mod support.

Yes it is an homage. I'm making some movies with SFM and Live Action footage. Not for money - just because I love the series.

Two weeks ago I sent emails to the only two emails that seamed like they might connect to someone in their marketing department. [email protected] &

[email protected] Both site were mostly dealing with the Source engine rights .... but I thought I'd start somewhere.

Thank you =D I would like to have something at youtube - but I'm not going to monetize it.

If you don't monetize I don't think they'll mind. Just give credit.

It could be as you say they won't mind. I would just like to hear it from them.

pshh... I would monotize it... people all over youtube post play throughs of the game which contain the soundtrack, and they get paid for that. I'm not saying you shouldn't ask them... I'm just saying don't pass up free money

you offer me a lot to think about - I haven't received any responses from any of my emails to Valve.... so I'm now messaged a friend who works for an advertising agency to see if there is an agency to lease music rights from.

until then I'm using Royalty Free Music.
