And pasting it here instead...

Hello

[Remove Hello and insert better greeting here]

[Insert preamble about self here]

Error: Self blank or nonexistent. Proceed to reason for signing up:

I've been a fan of Portal since I got it for [Insert holiday name here] in 2007 - it was the first Valve game I played actually. Portal 2 was the first ever game I preordered though I didn't do it on Steam. I bought the Orange box in 2009 (meaning I have 2 copies of Portal - it was worth it for the other stuff though). I haven't finished Portal 1 either, I'm stuck at some point after the test chambers but I'll eventually figure it out. I have finished the singleplayer mode of Portal 2 - epic!

I've been playing around with Hammer since 2008 or 2009 I think, though I haven't actually finished any maps yet, I definitely understand what I'm doing.

Generally the level of technology and graphics in games doesn't matter to me as long as the game is fun. I tend to like games best when they're different from the norm, regardless of the genre. The games I play most are Portal (obviously), Descent (a series which started in 1995 and was put on hold after 2000), Sonic the Hedgehog (though I don't have any consoles to play most of the games on ), Spore, and TrackMania.

[Insert statement that I am a musician here]

[Insert my musician name: "Vertigo Fox" here]

[Insert Vertigo Fox's musician page http://www.myspace.com/snowfoxden here]

The name 'Kaiaatsel' comes from a Sci-Fi/Fantasy novel I'm co-writing with my brother. Kaia is a character I concepted, a human who's abducted by a time-traveling alien and arrives in the future as something... else. I like the sound of the name a lot and so I'm using it for myself more and more - including on my steam profile.

[Insert farewell here]

P.S. I had to sign up twice because the first time I didn't recieve the activation email. The account was called 'wazzazzle' and it was under the email adress '[email protected]'. If an admin or mod could delete that duplicate account it would be appreciated.

Don't mind the hazing. It's how we drum out all the hyper-sensitive twelve year olds. You seem like a guy who can write and have a good sense of humor. Stick around and make some maps with us.

Hober I remember you wrote this giant blong post a few years ago about that, and that you were surprised it works so well. Glad you're still on board for it!

Well there we go

The name's sampo and have been alive for a little over 20 years by now.

First couple of levels i ever created were for the DOS game "Stunts" you should check it on youtube it was awesome (15 years ago)
After that when i was around 13 years old i got used to making levels in the game "Wolfenstein ET" with the program "GTK Radiant 1.4.0"
made some pretty nice levels for Trickjumping in it. that's no killing at all, just strafejump to get till the end of a lvl.

Now as Portal 1/2 maps are pretty tricky too and includes jumps and it's just lots of fun.
I decided to make levels for portal 2 also like a week ago.
Stumbled upon this forum and found out it's pretty cool here so i decided to register.

As for other things..
I like a lot of music genres but i preffer Hardstyle and Rock
And for movies it'll be the horror ones that i like most.
Also Monster Energy drinks are the best!

Have you heard of TrackMania?
You should check that out if you liked Stunts.

Hi, I'm Any_ILL (well, not IRL obviously).

I came here after buying portal 1 & 2 a couple of weeks before. I really liked the game (but I didn't even finish the first test chamber of the co-op part, I ldon't really like unknown teammates ^^) and couldn't wait until summer to play new maps.

That's by searching some over the internet that I discover this site. I've tested only one so far, but I hope I'll be here for a while to discover some wonderfull puzzle maps.
I'm not into high skill maps, that's why I didn't test portal prelude and went directly looking for portal 2 map. Though, I could apreciate an aerial/acrobatic map like what you can see in the trailers (I loved the part in portal 1 where you must jump from one plateform to the higher one by alterning your portals and using the momentum of an enormous jump. It was pretty easy, but so enjoyable).

Oh and while I'm at it, I'm french so sorry for the mistakes I will (and probably already have) make.

Hello, I'm Ghost Jor...
I'm thinking about opening a new thread about what people think should happen next in Portal, I want to know because I have loads of wierd ideas, and want to know if others do to. But i thought I'll post here first and see if sounds like a good idea?

Didn't we used to have a Portal speculation thread? Anyway, go for it. Just don't expect anyone to necessarily take your off-the-wall ideas 100% seriously at first.

Hmmm, Ill think about it, just I have loads of ideas for portal 3. Like story ideas and new testing apparats. But If I do decide to, I'm probably going to wait for a bit, make myself a little more known...

Hey there. I came here looking into the map editing and how it might/might not tie in with the PS3 version. Still have not found an answer to that but that because I really got into one of the Chell origins arguments and had to post something there first... So this is in fact my second post.I am GLaD* to be here but probably wont post much. I really do read a lot so I will fill my two cents in where I see fit and read anything that interests me.

*Sorry for the pun but I could not resist.

There will likely not be any editing tools released on consoles. As for being able to play maps on consoles, that remains to be seen.

Oh I should have clarified that. I know there wont be console tools I was wondering could i play with my PC buddies on custom maps when/if PSN is back online. The silly thing is they have PS3's but chose to buy the standalone PC version just to get it a day early and they did not even but it on steam they physically went to a game shop and bought it when they knew it was coming for the PS3 and they would get a FREE copy with it for PC/Mac. Oh the slagging was 90. Seeing as there is not/I can't find a way to use the dev console on the PS3. The questions relating to cross platform gaming are driving me mad and with PSN offline I am getting The Itch... Anyway i will stop cluttering up the welcome section and post somewhere more relevant.
