I find it funny that OUR solar systems name is "Solar System" that'd be like our planet's name being Planet, or our god's name being "God".... oh wait. mine is... nevermind on the last one.
hmm it would appear the best 'name' for the sun is Sol (latin for sun) which would make it 'The Sol system' and the planets would be named as follows:
Mercury - Sol I
Venus - Sol II
Earth - Sol III
Mars - Sol IV
Jupiter - Sol V
Saturn - Sol VI
Uranus - Sol VII
Neptune - Sol VIII
unfortunatly since that pluto noncense isnt a planet anymore we don't get onto X's which is a pitty really because not enough roman numerals reach IX
Edit: Yup just checked out some other sources and it seems that it isnt 'official' as such the generally accepted 'name' for the sun is Sol and Luna for the moon. (It isn't simply 'the sun' because sun is never capitalised so it can't be a proper noun)

and f-that anyway. pluto will always be a planet to me
Pluto never should have been a planet, its tiny.
If you insist that pluto is worthy of planetary status then it would be Sol IX
well its size matters not to me, i've never been there (and never plan to go) its more about the tradition of it being a planet to me more than anything else

that and the fact that i can no longer use:
"My Very Excellent Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizzas!"
for the electromagnetic spectrum my friend made this -

your friend has issues. i strongly suggest you help him find some sort of counselling.

and this is off topic, everything is fair game. but just to make sure I'm from suffolk
way to bring it back around. and for further cautionariness. i'm from (read: near) Corpus Christi, home of the "Girls Gone Wild" videos (well one home of. but most of the orriginal stuff is filmed from/near there)
