Description
This is my mapping contest entry. This map includes some simple tests with turrets. One note: You haven't got portalgun. All portals can be opened when you push special buttons. But it doesn't mean that this map is boring and total platforming. This map was created to prove puzzles without portalgun can be interesting and even original. Get ready to think with portals but without portalgun. 1.1 version changelist: -Fixed bug that two orange portals can be created at the end of map. -Box dropper in the last challenge is working now -Now music is playing less loudly during the test challenges -Some minor design updates v1.2 changelist -Fixed a bug where player could spawn with portal gun -Fixed all problems with music (I hope) -Design and light improvements Attention: the map had changed name. To launch the new version you must type in the console "map wopg_turrets_domino".

By concept i thought "oh, that gonna suck!".. but, it was surprisingly fun and well designed! Nice work
Play this, this one's important. Described as it is, you might think it's full platforming: but it's actually half evasion, half interaction.
Whoever might tweak this further, and it could become a wonderful stealth map (turret cages challenge) or a nice looking puzzler (with the actual default gizmos).
The lighting is absolutely gorgeous and the environments were stellar. This is the custom prettiest clean chamber I have played to date. The puzzles were fairly easy, but clever and well designed. My only complaint is that the turret opera got old after a while; I suggest that you fade it out during the chamber and then back in at the end. Other than that, absolutely wonderful mapping!
A little fun, but i think i prefer my portal gun^^"
Though the turret domino at the end was fun t o look at
That is an insane number of turrets! I thing the level was good and moderatly challenging. It is good to see a puzzle that tests the players skills without the portal gun.
AHHH!! The turret song just keeps looping and looping and looping. I'd recommend playing it only once, made me mute the game >,<
Loved this map! 5/5
I say keep the song throughout the whole chamber.
It is my favorite song. :p
I really like the song too. Took me a few tries to actually get all of the turrets to fall but after about 3 tries I got it. Totally worth it. Fun map and interesting idea.
OMG
I BOW DOWN TO YOU!! This is probably one of my favourite custom maps. My only suggestions are to add a fat turret, a sideways turret, and edit the song so that it loops without you knowing when it ends.
PURPLE TURRET!!!!

...
I'm kind of stunned. It's beautiful, original, and even atmospheric. I can only imagine what you could accomplish if you allowed the player an ASHPD.

Can't be done for the contest, no custom content allowed.
While not my favorite map, I found this one entertaining in its own way. The part with the cube was frustrating as I held it in front of me as you could in Portal 1 to hide from a turret, but it kept managing to shoot me through the narrow space beneath it once every few dozen shots, which would send me flying a few feet backwards, making forward progress painfully slow.
Your aesthetic is interesting, mixing the "clean" style with the crates from the BTS areas. I kind of feel like they should be kept separate, maybe keep the BTS for the areas outside the test chamber but close up the chamber itself so that the crates beyond aren't visible.
I really liked the last room, the hexagon of catwalks is a neat thing.
You need to add rails for the panels that come out of the wall to form stairs at once point, currently the robot arms just float. There's a prop for a 64-unit long rail that's meant for those arms to be mounted on.
Music was nice, but way too loud while working on the puzzle IMO. Maybe reduce the volume if you don't wanna remove it altogether, though limiting it to just before and after the chamber isn't a bad idea.
Nice use of a gameplay mechanic that only lasted 1 chamber in Portal 2 (the push-button portal placement). This one's certainly not like any other custom map I've tried.
Well, I think that's the first and maby the only map with an interesting and clever turrets utilisation. The map where the turrets wasn't lying dead on the floor 15 seconds after I enter the room.
And the domino part was really funny, thanks 8)
Very cool map! Nice visual style and a very special and funny atmosphere. My only complaint would be that you can't respawn the cube in the last part where you have to use the domino effect to kill the turrets. If you miss you have to reload unless I missed something.
Without Portalgun Demo: Turrets Domino update released
Changelist:
-Fixed bug that two orange portals can be created at the end of map.
-Box dropper in the last challenge is working now
-Now music is playing less loudly during the test challenges
-Some minor design updates
Am I a terrible person for forcing a turret to watch the turret domino?
This was really fun. I agree with the turret firing shots below the cube. That was annoying.
You should make the purple turret say "i'm different" when you walk past.
I'm playing custom maps and record my first time of playing them. So the run is not perfect and may not use only intended ways, but maybe it can let you see how other people may understand the map or you could just enjoy someone playing this map for entertainment.
Anyways, here is the recording:

Well... Wow. For a map sans ASHPD, I thought there could be no functionality. I have been proven wrong.
Much like my expectations, it often appeared as if there was only one solution. However, I am certain that this technique could be employed in more puzzle-orientated maps, thus proving me wrong. Again.
One thing is for sure - this map is an absolute gem, and I enjoyed every second of it.
Now the unexpected update of the map has been released.
- The list of v1.2 changes includes:
- -Fixed a bug where player could spawn with portal gun
- -Fixed all problems with music (I hope
) - -Design and light improvements
Maybe it's just because I've been playing Jonatan's difficult maps lately, but this one was so easy it detracted from all the good qualities: novel concept, clean design and turret opera.
If you like kamikaze attacks on turrets, you'll love this map. Everyone should play this map once just to get the concept. If more had been done with that concept, this would have gotten more than 3/5 from me.
I just re-played the latest version:

I wanted to play your other withouth portalgun map, when I saw that was your second, so decided to play this one first.
Love the singing turrets, they make me happy
Easy but lovely map, up to play your second one now.
I'm not sure if this is a 5/5 map or if I'm just really glad it's not a sadistic super meatboy map.
