First attempt at a portal 2 map. Yes I know, the lighting is bad.

Beside the dark lighting, the dotted blue-line are not very useful since the player can't see them completely.
Nor the fact that door is not visible from the bottom. You should reduce the height of the steps and/or move the door to the side wall nearer to the drop.

The white wall on the cube dropper is unnecessary.

I didn't really like tricky portal placement to get rid of the turret.

I enjoyed the map! Not the best, but certainly not the worst.

As you said, the lighting is bad, mostly just by being too low. It would probably take you less time to fix that than it took for you to write "Yes I know, the lighting is bad."

Also, enable HDR while compiling the map, that will also help.

What kind of file is this? I was expecting a .bsp extension.

the map was a bit short and way to dark. I opened the door, but I couldn't see that it was a door and it was opened. a bit more light would help a lot

Why release it, if you know the map's broken? Just open a WIP thread and ask for betatesters, no need to rush. Anyway: basic and unpolished, dark to the point of being unplayable. I suggest you double check texture alignments, and center the shots for the white slate in front of the catapult. The only redeeming value stays in the gameplay, classic and working.

Winrar opens it, it's an archive despite being named the_hike_a13.bsp.bz2

Change the extension of the archive to .rar to open it. The map is fine with mat_fullbright on, even though one shouldn't have to do that. Even without it, it was playable.

The puzzle is straightforward but fun to execute. Except for the lighting, the map is well detailed. 3/5 from me, would have gotten 4 if the lights were on!
