Hello ThinkingWithPortals. My new years resolution is to release my portal maps that I've been making the past little while. For some reason I cannot figure out how you guys are making single test maps. So I've had to include my arc_transition_list.nut to make everything work. So put arc_transition_list.nut in your Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/portal 2/portal2/scripts/vscripts/transitions/ folder If you did this with one of my previous maps the transition list is still valid and you don't have to do it again. -or- if you don't feel like putting vscripts in there, noclip forward after spawning, you should find the elevator pretty quickly. after doing/not doing all that don't forget to put arc_reznor.bsp into Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/portal 2/portal2/maps Then load up portal2 open up the console, and type map arc_reznor and you should be good to go. This is my second release and I have a insatiable hunger for feedback, good or bad. Happy testing! -dan

Contest submission by Qmaster. A relatively simple puzzle in a style similar to Wheatley Laboratories but with a slight twist. My first released Portal 2 map, as an experienced mapper though. I have tried my best to make it cool. You can check out my other projects over on worldofleveldesign.com

Engineer - A map designed to make you think. Portal 2 is, at its heart, a puzzle game. Graphics; story; environment -- all of these are good but secondary. I finished the masterpiece of Portal 2 but was left wanting more: a deeper puzzle, with intrigue and interlocking chambers, that required strategy, intuition, and ingenuity. I want to be challeged so that I am rewarded with a well-earned feeling of victory. Combining logic with creativity is the quintessential essence of what Portal 2 maps should be all about, and in Engineer I believe I have recaptured that ideal. It is my hope that upon completion, Engineer will stand out in your mind as unique, and that the fundamental puzzle design it presents is carried forth by the many others far more skilled in map-building than I. Notes: - It is possible to do things that make the puzzle unsolvable. However, I have added many "safety exits" (as fizzlers) which reduces this. You never need to pass through a fizzler to solve this puzzle - they are intended for emergency use. - Engineer is not a tedious map. There are many solutions, but none are trivial, and if you find yourself repeating anything over and over again, it is not the correct solution. Just take a step back, and ponder the tools you have been given. - Solution has been provided as a demo file, included. See Readme.txt for instructions.

S_O_v1 is more fun than brussels sprouts! Star Oasis V1 map by Mangus Toyl A medium challenge map. Objective: Get to third tier. Must place the excursion funnel on a tile and a cube within the excursion funnel. The cube will pass upward until it hits a button. Some cubes need to be stacked. Companion cube needs to be placed in a specifc spot and deliberately respawned. Most cubes are used as a stepping device. In most cases, don't let cubes hit fizzler or it's game over. Special note: faith plates can be approached from two different angles - either by walking onto it from a backwards direction or a forwards one. This means that only one method will work correctly, so choose to walk onto a faith plate from the forward direction, as the fulcrum's leverage changes from one point to another. Always save right before making a big decision. There is only one shot at stringing together the correct sequence of moves, so you may need to save before making that 'leap of faith.' When you first approach this map, follow each indicator light and map out its corresponding trigger and symbol. Warning: I use normally open and normally closed buttons throughout. When you use a faith plate or fall from a light bridge into a portal, do not use directional keys to guide a path as this is done automatically using targets. Please read the directions on how to extract this file properly. I have special files that have to be in place. And finally, save before jumping into excursion funnel. TO USE THIS MAP FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW Extract the .bsp file to your maps directory located in steam/steamapps/common/portal 2/portal2/maps. Extract the star_oasis folder to the materials folder located in steam/steamapps/common/portal 2/portal2/materials. Once in portal 2, go to your console by pressing the ~ key (enable it under keyboard options if you haven't) and type "map star_oasis_v1" without quotes. No respawn. Normal cubes will not respawn if lost; no box dropper for normal cubes. Save at various points. Indicator lights are a jumbled mess...sorry. When you arrive at the star oasis, you will notice only one star has a corresponding button. The other two stars open on a proximity trigger so don't waste time looking for two other buttons. This map has little detail. This is my first attempt at this. Solution: http://www.youtube.com/user/MangusToyl

What is Map_Name_Here_123? This map. A clean style map of average (?) difficulty with decent aesthetic finish. 1.1: New, exciting name! 1.2: More freedom in blue gel area, orange gel button is now floor button, more 'shielding' on top of the turret 'fish tank'. 1.3: Reduced glass opacity. 1.4: Better support for alternative flinging in first chamber.
