I'm uploading stuff here while it's tested out. EDIT: Current download has a bad VMT, which I'm not going to re-upload until next release. [BETA 4] A very Aperture adventure
I loved the bts exploration of Portal2, and I wanted to re-imagine and expand upon the 1970s sections, so here's what I've been working on for the last six months: Screenshots here (dated September 04): http://steamcommunity.com/id/RufusThorne/screenshots/ Map 3 in a series, featuring (soon) a daring escape from the test track, some great open exploration of my idea of a 1970s themed bts area. This is more an aesthetic excercise than a playable map with puzzles, but it has an entrance and an exit all the same. Hopefully I will find a way to incorporate some puzzles in the next beta. Please take time to explore (nearly ALL DOORS will open!!) and you'll know when you get to the exit, because the door closes behind you (it's up top) There's a current issue with missing brushes depending on look-angle (fog_controller issue I'm still sorting out) and some areas are overly bright or overly dark. Again, I'm working on this. Once again, please check the screenshots, explore the map, and I'm eagerly awaiting your comments in the discussion thread. *** NEW IN BETA 4 FIXED: Missing reception floor area (thanks tehkasl) FIXED: Replaced some trigger_once doors with trigger_multiple Removed some vitrified doors, replaced with better ones. Large amounts of detail work, reworking of some areas Very large area has been made larger (!) Visibility optimisation Tweaked fog controller *** NEW IN BETA 3 FIXED: Non-Solid railings Tweaked fog controller some more Completely new start area Fire! and moving things! Liberally added Areaportals and HINT brushes *** NEW IN BETA 2 FIXED: Dissappearing wall bug Tweaked fog controller (still needs more tweaking)
Cube Escort
Guide your faithful companion cube to the end. Involves: Faithful Companion Cube Repulsion Gel Excursion Funnel Emancipation Grids Aerial Faith Plates Update: V1.1 Added grating to fix exploit to get to glass room. Fixed most texture alignment issues. Built cubemaps. Fixed cube button in second room (now closes door when cube taken off)
Breakdown
The main idea with this level is to have a broken test chamber which can only be solved using some unorthodox mechanics which weren't used in the main game. Feedback on any aspect of the level would be greatly appreciated! V1.1: Made the level fade out and disconnect at the end. Fixed an area where you could get stuck and have to restart the level. Added a fizzler to the exit elevator. V1.2: Fixed up cubemaps. Added VMF source to zip file.
Sunbury Chambers 14
Tricky COOP based on a PeTI map and enhanced in Hammer. Key game play elements: Cubes, Spheres and weight buttons. Some features can only be triggered if both players activate a button each at same time. Steam: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... =100392918 Packed with 7zip
IonEnabled
This is an easy/medium map consisting of one chamber plus a little extra for fun. This is my first map since the golden age of Doom, yes I'm that old! If I were to start it again I would certainly do things differently, having learnt a lot along the way.(Xdiesp be gentle). Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy playing it. Thanks to everyone on this site, without whom this would have not been possible. V1.1 - Whoops I forgot to buildcubemaps. 'Hangs head in shame' V1.2 - Fixed unintended solution V1.3 - Updated texture alignments & minor tweaks V1.4 - Further tweaks & boundaries added to avoid allowing the player to stray off the map
Aperature Dungon
inspired in part by a certain Legendary series. Use boxes for your keys. theme: Clean mode: SinglePlayer Ok this is an updated version of Glabers We worked together on this he gives me credit in the origonal I wasent finished this is an updated version It would have been nice if he consulted me before uploading the map I was waiting for glaber to get online so he could update the download Glaber hasent been on steam ALL DAY and I have no other way of contacting him so the way I see it I either re upload the updated version or it never sees the light of day Glaber did most of the work If this map wins ALL prizes should go to Glaber, Im just in it for the science fixes - finished texturing the bottom of panels - added more panels - added a scripted sequence - replaced some doors with panels - made the exit less frusturating to get to - re textured most panels
Unique Styled Map
A very short map. My attempt at a unique style for a Portal 2 map, using world portals in a pretty cool way. [Updated, made longer]
Positive Discouragement - Chamber 02
"Positive Discouragement" is a small map pack that I'm working on. I decided that I might as well upload this to TWP, instead of having it sit around on my computer until I finish all the maps, but I'm not going to upload it to the Workshop until they're all done. So for now, you'll have to do it the old-fashioned way! ====== This chamber was originally going to be the third chamber, however due to some redesign on the second chamber, I deemed this one less difficult, and moved it back into the #2 spot. (It isn't really that difficult anyway - it's just an intro to the laser chaining technique). At this point the facility is starting to become cleaner, so it's less destroyed than Chamber 1, but more destroyed than Chamber 3.
