But yeah, another thing I don't like about Portal maps is not much of them provide a screenshot that makes me go "Wow, that looks cool! I'm gonna give this a try." Now, most of them are just a title image with a logo over a screenshot. Sadly, I do this too, but I have a whole "album cover art" thing going on.

I just wanna say, it was good for the jumping mechanics, even though a little bit of bad level design. the good level design made up for it, there was a bug with the cube thingies, you can really quickly take the cube out. ahh when the timing for an object isn't too good.

Missing cubemaps are annoying things... Also "pakratless" maps are.

lol I see... That would indeed be one of the worst things ever.

Especially if there was a physics gun, because that would mean they hacked (somehow) past VAC and got stuff from gmod.

I don't really know what you're trying to say...the VAC doesn't prevent things from being ported across games, and there's no way to port custom weapons anyway.

A little stylechanger and extra content is ok, but I HATE that some people think that Bee + Style = ORIGINAL CHAMBER DO NOT STEAL!!
Especially when there is a million other chambers with their idea!

I disagree. Any map that implements style changer or beemod at all is not "okay" to be called an original map. An original map is something you make create the ground up in Hammer (besides mapping out the puzzle maybe in PTI but no exporting), even if only "a little style changer" is used.

I'm not sure if you understand the concept of the discussion.

Style changer is great. Exporting to PeTI is annoying but still really helpful for people. The main thing that bothers me is that people get attention for that more than real mappers do and usually don't try to make good puzzles because they focus on crappy "story" in it.

Usage of backpanel textures on the entire wall or floor. (One of the common symptoms for PTI to Hammer mappers).

Fun fact: The Tornate series and Feather Away started as PTI maps. Ofc, the maps were remade from scratch. In my opinion, if you gonna use PTI for concept, that's how you should do it.

I also hate when fully made Hammer instances use PTI instances for the observation rooms and light strips. Chamber 12 of AAK was like that before I edited it.

I have no problem when people use PTI for the puzzle concept. As long as they make it from scratch in Hammer then it's fine.

I do that in general, I didn't know there was something wrong with it. What's the difference between the PTI and normal instances?

The normal light strips use a brush light and need a recess to fit in, the PTI ones are placed on top of a surface and use a light entity.

Ironically that's why I use them, it's easier to light a map without having to worry about leaks. Is the other way better?
