Yeah IPBFree! The internet needs more forums, no doubt.

Needs more GOOD ones. Not spammy ones.

Aragharahgarghaagh.

Whenever I see new forums sprout up, it honestly feels like no one knows how to make a proper forum.

It's so simple:

  1. Have a topic.
  2. Make a forum for it.

Example:

Forum topic: puppies.
Forums: Talk about puppies.

That's it. Not 51 billion subforums for every possible interest someone might have.

Your forum should be simplified to:
1. News
2. Help (need help? Have a suggestion? Been banned?)
3. Discussion (with an introduction thread, a spam thread and a happy birthday thread)
4. archive (where old contests and forum games go when they die)

That's all.

heh, it's not my forum. But if you feel like sharing your opinion with the guy who made it, post it in the forum.

So you guys aren't keen on my new hybrid LARP-gardening forum idea?

Well, shit.

Even if I have a super-dope punny name like ... fuck it. I just got off work. This is too much effort.

Company of Heroes, anyone?

Well, I personally don't know what I like more. A big forum with a large, quite active userbase, or a small forum with a small, but very active userbase. I guess they both have their ad- and disadventages.

@Ricotez: How about a forum with a point? If I wanted a forum with a large userbase but no real theme, there are already those abounding. Just from my experience, if I were to wish to join such a thing, I would participate more actively in the Penny Arcade forums or the Ars Technica forums.

There just doesn't seem to be any point to this new forum, which I think is what is garnering it so much flak.

The Admin just asked me if I could get anyone to join, and I thought maybe some people from here might want to. So I posted.

well, If you're looking for a forum with a lot of members try here:

http://z14.invisionfree.com/ChronoCrisis/index.php?act=idx

It's the forum for a game called Chrono Crisis, and it currently has 826 members so...yeah

btw, I'm feeling like a tool for posting this ~_~
