My name Skotty hast originally nothing to do with any Star Trek (besides, great series, but not TOS). It was a spelling mistake made by me while I played the great game Freelancer online.
It was the first game I started to mod and make levels by myself.
My mapping "career" for SourceEngine begun in the mid of 2005. I just made maps for the great Garry's Mod since then, but released just 4 maps in 5 years. I used the whole time mainly to discover the whole possibilities of the SourceEngine and Hammer Editor.
Besides Garry's Mod I'm a (mainly inactive) mapper for the HL2 mod Combine Destiny 2.
Since Garry's Mod maps became boring because complex mechanics in Hammer were never necessary I renew my mapping motivation with the release of Portal 2. That game gives me the possibility to build short (and thats motivating, because my other maps were build in the time of some years!) time and all my expiriences of the Source mechanics can be used.
Besides the mapping I started in 2007 to model my own models for my maps. With that I started creating textures as well.
The ambient of maps is very important, so I startet with the release of Episode 2 learning how the particle editor works and learned how to use and write soundscripts and soundscapes.

As far as i know another contributor/admin has to get you in... It'll be proposed in a private section and everybody can sorta "vote" and debate.
But you have to actually contribute to the site... Or just be a damn good mapper

Recently learned to use Hammer and started making my own map, however my general laziness and tendency to start new projects without finishing the old ones make it unlikely that I'll ever release something worth playing
