Thinking that only the part of the world that is visable to you at a moment is the only part that is loaded.

You know you've been doing too much hammer when...
your staying at your parents' for <Holiday Name Here> and when your mother tries to wake you up, you see your mother in the door opening and you think "why is only the shadow model used". Before you realize: "Ah! I'm at my parents, my mother is in the door opening and I have to wake up".

Real story

I spent time remaining in an exam last year exactly working out how I would remake the exam hall in Hammer, props, lighting, textures and everything.
Shame I never went home and actually did it xD

You look at the time it's 6:00pm, then look again later it's 3:00am. You wonder to yourself, "Where did the time go?" Then you get of the office chair, finding a lage dent in it you think, "I can't have done this!". After that, you get to bed falling asleep like a ton of lead in quicksand. Then like he said

When suddenly you realise that you are actually mapping more than playing the game!

Today I've checked that my hours mapping are the same than my hours playing Portal2!! my god.

Oh shoot! While I have played both Portal 2 and Hammer significantly less than you have, I might be in trouble:

Portal 2: 10.5 hrs last two weeks / 126 hrs on record
Portal 2 Authoring Tools - Beta: 52.6 hrs last two weeks / 404.3 hrs on record

That's 3,2 times as much Hammer!
