Map Bumping

Well I have noticed that there is quite a few people who have taken to posting links to their own maps on the steam workshop pages of other peoples maps (obviously mainly on the popular ones). I was wondering whether people think I would be being overly harsh to delete those comments???

Apologies if this has already been discussed...

If someone is linking to a Workshop map that isn't theirs and passing it off as their work, then report the post and the staff will look into it. Shit like that is definitely banworthy.

I think he means people promoting their own maps in the comments of other workshop maps (on the actual steam workshop site). Obviously there's not much we can do about that as we don't moderate the steam workshop.

Yes that's what I mean, I'm wondering if it's fair for me to remove those kind of comments from my own maps. There are two types of comments in this category, firstly ones that just post a link to their own map and secondly ones that comment on your map and then say try out theirs, it's the former that annoy me most!

It's your map, man, take charge. Personally, I would indeed remove those comments (especially when it's obvious that the person hasn't played the map), it's nothing short of spam.

Delete 'em all, I say, unless they've really taken the time to give you some good feedback in the same comment.

I delete them off of mine. I hate people who spam the comments section with their own map only if they have no feedback on my map. If they give feedback then yeah I'll leave it, if not than say bye bye to their comment.

It kind of reminds of those no life people on Youtube who spam the comment section with "Thumbs up mah comment hurr hurr!" I delete those too.

One of the recent comments I got was:

"Very nice and detailed map, thank you. I enjoyed playing it.

Here is my list, they got 5/5 and 4.5/5 stars from Game Puzzle Magazine

http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/7656 ... shopfiles/

I am pretty certain the alleged magazine doesn't exist!

If it's on the workshop then there's nothing we can do about it. Just delete their comments.

All "I like mudkipz your map, check out mine <<link>>" comments are straight to the trash can
They certainly do not get me to play them .

Heh, I got the same comment on a couple of mine and came to the same conclusion that it was completely made up. Too bad too, because I would want to read any magazine that seriously reviews random PTI maps.

Out of curiosity/boredom I just had a go at those maps; I can safely say that a magazine that awarded any of them 5 or 4.5 stars is definitely not one I would read....

Hehe... I just did that right yesterday after reading this thread... and you're completely right! I guess the many of those maps just suck and these ppl who post their map links into other ppl maps threads saying all that about 5/5 stars and stuff smell bad... there's no worst way of losing points than by saying something yours is great, or pretending it is.
