You have no conception of how PHPBB works, do you? For one thing the source is an utter bitch to work with.
I also find particularly hilarious how "the bot learns" is just another step instead of being the goal. The guys at the MIT AI labs have been trying to make the "bots just learn" for decades.

I am not at all familiar with the newer PHBB let alone some of the updates that have come out for it. I do know Javascript and I do know HTML but I doubt that would be of any use.
Also you can easily make a bot "LEARN" all it does is take a record of what is says and uses it to say something else or repeat it.

THAT'S IT GUYS! Why isn't the bot done yet, come on! It should only take a couple minutes of JAVASCRIPT AND HTML. COME ON GUYS, WHY?
