I found a bug, the cube only goes one way, if a portal is placed on the laser side.

I had the same issue with the cube as the others. I just fizzled the cube and it respawned in the funnel room. The whole room that tilts the panel can be skipped by going through portals in the first room with the funnel and shooting a portal on the floor in the laser/exit room while in the air.In the BTS area I got killed by the falling light and had to start that area over. Save point or turn the kill trigger off on the light fixture.Other than that, it was an excellant map.5/5 from me

Very good maps! Puzzles were nicely done, not too hard, not too easy, but I found some bugs, for example you can get stuck in that small room with two doors, or in laboratories you can place portal behind strip light on the ceiling, also in some places in maintanence area that kind of going from one place to another one via portal was quite strange and confusing, but rest was ok and pretty good!

I haven't played your map yet, but I saw that you are using a custom sp_lightboard_icons.txt file.
DaMaGePy has a thread where it is explained how to pack files like this into
the .bsp using Valve built-in utility bspzip.exe:
http://forums.thinking.withportals.com/topic2761.html

The advantage of doing this is that the map will use your custom files, without overwriting any of the game's original files.

Kinda new here, but I thought I'd help out also.

Good map and puzzles.

Had one place I was able to get "Outside" the map without dieing... from the outside catwalk, I went right rather than left. At the far edge of the catwalk you can see and hit a portalable surface. When I went through, I fell to the bottom and didn't die. I was walking around outside the map...

Got a screenshot to help out.

Now I have played your maps, and wow! A lot of work must have gone into making all that stuff. I wouldn't work that hard unless I was getting paid to do it, and I think your work is as good if not better than most of the stuff that the folks at Valve did.

Generally, I liked the puzzle elements, too. However, putting the laser on the first target wouldn't stick. I would hit it, start to run for the bridge, and then it would slip off to the side. It took me several tries before it stayed on the target. Although it's not your fault I handicap myself by playing with a controller, getting through that bit in time is a little tough when you run like a drunken sailor (no bunnyhopping here!)

Like the previous poster, I got stuck at the beginning of part two. Behind the crates beneath the square catwalk around the pneumatic tube, there is portal material. Not knowing any better, I walked into the pit and got stuck behind the vent. I turned on fullbright so I could see where I was. Stuck in sp_02_custom
2012-01-15_00001.jpgThere is portal material on the other side of the vent, but I couldn't get to it.

In the end, this is the most like the original game as any I've played, without being an obvious copy of the game. Fix the holes in the map, and it's an easy 5/5. As is, it only gets 4/5 from me.

Lost interest on the whole thing during map 1... first I got stuck in the room behind the laser grid.. had to die to reset... then, the mechanics of getting the cube to align again properly with the laser receptor are so random it's stupid. I've seen this kind of thing happen in maps using a similar tactic, and I never finished those either.. The fix... put a square cube slot on the ceiling so when the cube gets there it self aligns..

I did not play the rest of the map as I figured the mechanics would be just as sloppy. 3/5

You need to change the name of the download file when you update it or it wont work. I downloaded it and the files are identical to the originals.

I actually forgot to post my rating for this map before. Now, having played the updated version, things went much more smoothly. I should have asked for just a little more light BTS at the start of the second part, but even so, I've upgraded my rating to 5/5.

I enjoyed the map but I encountered two major "problems":
1) I got stuck after the first door. (I guess I played v1.0 (I skipped the funnel part)) [spoiler]I aimed the laser on the obvious door opener using two portals misplaced one, stood next to the door, placed the portal properly and got in between those two rooms.

2) The turrets are something that really help you in puzzle two. Let me show you that in a video, which I will upload later.

Other than that, good work, 4/5 great!

Thanks dude, the video really helped, I finished the fixes, the problem with the door is a little more complicated then it will take longer to correct. The rest is done. =)

I played many custom maps and this one really stands out. Great design and interesting, very fresh puzzles. Not too hard but keep you thinking. Gave me a lot of joy. Should be in a community spotlight. Many, many thanks for mapping 5/5 from me.

Hey dude,

I love Portal and want to collect some gameplays (first blind runs; always aren't the fastest and intended solutions, because I take any time to look at the map and its possibilities), speedruns and bug reports.
My records should help you to understand how the player thinks.
Well, I hope I can support you with my uploads to fix any bugs and make new awesome maps.

Here are yours!

Gameplay:

If you like it and/or it helps: THUMBS UP

opinion & comments:

Sorry, for the lags ...don't know what's the problem! :/
Really nice map! Makes lot of fun.
You can see bugs and cutoffs in the gameplay...

THX for mapping...

i got stuck.
in the room with the doors that opens and closes with the boincing cube. When i entered the room the doors stayed close and i couldnt go back (or forward) This was a bug. You could also do it by accident by shooting portals in the the room and you get stuck as well.

Had a little trouble with the very end (I could open the final door, but then I needed to get onto the bridge).

One of the solutions
Image
Was this the intended solution? Let the cubes float between portals? Pretty awesome.

...Ok, you probably meant for the player to open the first door, place the ceiling portal, and then switch the laser to opening the other door. That works too, I guess. Who else did it either of these ways?

I could get stuck in that room or at the bottom of the stairs in part 2 of the turret room (where you need the cube to go up the large steps). Not sure about the first trap, but in the second one, just put a button to dissolve the cube and get a replacement. (I don't think that breaks the puzzle, but maybe.)

Yep this was the intended solution, I'm glad you liked it =), the white ceiling between the doors is only aesthetic, but the alternative way you found is very creative, (i had not even seen that was possible, lol). In the second map if i understood well what you say (sorry if is not the case =)), that cube already have a respawn system, he fall thru that hole in the ceeling because i not have enough space for a dropper =(.

Right, the cube falls from the hole in the ceiling. There's a sign indicating falling cubes, so that's clear enough. But if the player just walks down there without the cube, they're stuck.
