The Chamber of Silence

This is my entry for the Portal 2 Summer Mapping Initiative Contest! This Chamber is relatively simple but utilises a variety of Portal 2's puzzle mechanics and hopefully makes for a difficult but enjoyable map. Before we start, however, keep in mind that although fun and learning are the primary goals of this enrichment center activity, this is my very first map! Enjoy!

Have you ever wondered what it would be like, if it were Rick running aperture? No? Well are you now? No? Well i did. I have built a map, sort of around an adventure style of gameplay, yet still involving Portals and Portal elements. Note, that this is not, actually a difficult, or long, chamber. It is just a test, to see how a facility, run by Rick, would look like. I know, that moving laser emitters is not a good idea, but it is needed for the map style. Please post some "Adventury" test element ideas, for possible new maps with this concept.

Light Bridges, Lasers, Cubes. It's pretty easy-medium difficulty.

So I'm getting back into the routine of making puzzle maps so I can work on a "special" map that's currently in the works. This map, MegaCube, has lots of different testing elements in it along with a few some-what difficult puzzles. The actual MegaCube in the middle of the room can be opened by placing 4 weighted cubes (3 of which are in puzzle chambers) on cube buttons. What's inside? Well, I'm not telling.

Horrible name, yes. I'm not that good at naming things. It was meant to be harder, but I'm apparently not too good at making puzzles.

The Dark Side of Aperture

Ok, so this map is based around a variation on the "clean Aperture" theme, which I call "Dark Aperture." It's basically the Enrichment Centre, with creepy lighting for atmosphere. For more detail on the map, see the readme file - ensure you read this BEFORE extracting the .rar file, as some files may be overwritten that would be very, very bad. Not unrecoverable, mind, but bad nonetheless. This map consists of "four" rooms, although really it can be hard to judge where one ends and one starts. But I call it four. Because I'm like that. It's not too hard, but it should provide some challenge. Funnels, light bridges, lasers, boxes 'n buttons... it's got 'em all. "The Enrichment Center once again reminds you to read the readme file BEFORE extraction. Failure to do this will result in an unsatisfactory mark on your testing record, followed by death." EDIT: VERSION 1.1 RELEASED, CHECK README FOR CHANGES! EDIT: VERSION 1.2 RELEASED, CHECK README FOR THE CHANGE!
