A simple 'climb to the top' map. Movable Panels, a few buttons, a cube and a turret. And some flinging. The map starts with an elevator ride from the top down that gives you nice overview of the map. Screenshot

Salience - pertaining to Sa-li-ent: Adjective - Prominent or Conspicuous. Why is this map prominent? Because it's my first! (No don't run away!) This map features not just cubes, buttons, fizzlers and funnels in GLaDOS's Clean environment, but most importantly:- You can only fire one portal. Yes, in a style that is reminiscent (read: stolen) from the Blue Portals mod from old, but it brings some light and enlightenment into a completely unused aspect of portal puzzling. This map is 99% bug-free and I spent my whole summer holidays bringing life to it, so I know that I put the effort into it. But don't take my word for it, listen to these testimonies from past test subjects: "{REDACTED}" - Chell "My arm got bitten off by Mantis Men halfway-through. Would not test again." - Josh Ovencan - RubbishyUsername CEO of Rat Puree Laboratories Known minor bugs: Sometimes the elevator will not move at the start. Reload the map or noclip out to fix. Updates: V1.1 - Made an unintended solution harder, added portal emitter lights, and a couple of other minor changes.

My first foray into hammer, a shortish single player map in two stages, one very easy and one of intermediate difficulty. Some puzzles, some light flinging, some dexterity required, but not too much I hope!

Here's my entry for the Summer Mapping Initiative. I had a horrible week, but giving up was the last thing I wanted to do, even though I barely had time to work on it. I know after the first chamber it looks horrible, but at least it's fully playable. Special thanks to Thesus for helping me out in getting the fog and some overlays to work. Couldn't have done it without him. By the way, I edited the description, not the file.

My entry for the Summer Mapping Initiative, and also my first released map. It's fairly short, and not very difficult. I tried to be creative with a little "animating"... hopefully its not buggy. Leave me some helpful feedback if you can. Thanks! Update#1: Added a Readme file Update#2: Changed the following: -made the final portalable wall more obvious (I hope, but please let me know if it isn't, and give me some suggestions) -added fizzlers between the "rooms" -removed the "evil trapdoor of death" -added info_placement_helpers to a couple places -added a underground soundscape -added an explosion effect to the gantry crash animation part Update #3 Changed the following: -added music throughout the level -fixed a few ways to skip over the first room -made the turrets deadly...hate me if you want -added an autosave right before the turrets, see above -added more signs to the turret room to make it EVEN EASIER to figure out Update #4 -fixed some overlays I jacked up with update #3... This will be the final update unless someone finds some substantial bugs or glitches. If you do just let me know and I can fix it.

This is my first released map as well as my entry for the contest. I hope you like it. It is a single puzzle consisted of 3 smaller sub-puzzles, and features: - Light Bridges - Turrets - Funnels - Bounce Gel - Other hazards and puzzle elements Let me know what you think, and please report any bugs or problems. Note: I might have overused "hint" signs on the floors, let me know if I made it a bit too easy. Note 2: As required, the source VMF file is included. Notice that it requires (and includes) two custom instances. Updated to version 1.7: -Added grates to the washing stations -Added music -Added exit sign and made room numbering more obvious -Fixed a shortcut Updated to version 1.6: -It's now impossible to pass Room 2 by standing on the cube. -The exit was lowered so it's easier to reach. Updated to version 1.5: -Invisible fizzler removed from the entrance to Room 1. Grate added instead. -Two "cube washing" stations added. -Visible timer added to Room 2 -Fizzler in Room 1 made taller. -The jumps in Room 3 made easier. -Button added to the cube dropper in Room 3 -Many aesthetic changes -Other minor changes
