Tower of Hanoi Demo
This is a very small map that I have been working on that is a portal adaptation of the Tower of Hanoi puzzle. (Google it, or better yet http://www.mazeworks.com/hanoi/) It is going to be a room in a larger map and everything is essentially in running order (I hope). There isn't an entrance elevator, or an exit, the goal is just to get all the check marks on the exit wall lit up. Basically I used three different style cubes to represent three different size discs, and instead of pegs holding discs I have cases holding cubes. That, and it's upside down...Hard to explain, easy to see. What I really need help with is making this more user friendly for people who walk into this room and have never heard of the tower of Hanoi or what the rules of it are. For example: One rule is that you cant put a larger disc on top of a smaller disc. Simple, but how do I best illustrate this to portal players? (In the case of my level it would be "You cant put cube B below cube A in the glass case" because it is upside down) I put one of the basic rules of the game on the wall of the room, but I think it borderline kills the "portal feel" of the room, and I don't think I should really write out all the rules of the game. So if I could get some feedback on what would make it easier to figure this particular puzzle out, it would be much appreciated.
Forsaken Chambers
These are the 1st and 2nd puzzles in a series I'm working on called "The Forsaken Chambers", which takes place in an old facility of the more 'elite' testing initiatives. Puzzles will usually contain few elements, but you will have to use the hell out of them to solve it. For those who followed these maps in [WIP], nothing new here - just the Easter Egg in map 002 that I mentioned in the previous thread. Now that my finals are done I should 'actually' be uploading more content. School/work/life takes up so much time T_T I will give cake to the first person who reaches the Easter Egg in map 002 without cheats / glitches. This task requires ninja skills of an elite variety. (will not actually give cake. That is logistically difficult) --- Feedback is very much welcome! Please don't hesitate to criticize / praise, as well as share solutions (hidden, of course) to help out your fellow testers. They also help me know how people are solving this / not solving it. -- Workshop Links -- http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... d=71526483 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... d=72035153 I've yet to see support for multi-map uploads :< Hopefully that comes around in time -- v1.5 -- Fixed a texture error in the second map. The BSP's in the zip file are exactly the same as the workshop links; thus, there is no more auto-transition like before (due to the way Workshop maps must close). You will have to load each map individually
Unforgiving
My entry for the 2012 mapping contest. It was a long and hard battle against time, but i have finished it,and i am proud of myself. There were going to be voice lines, but the whole process of adding custom sounds was being finicky, and i was running out of time. So instead, i used a large amount of "Game_Text's", but i will re-post the map when the sounds are working. --Credits-- Myself, Calvin Dvorsky mapped the entire level, came up with most of the test ideas, and well, it's my map Lucas Dvorsky, my awesome bro, for moral support and recording the voice lines which aren't in this version My mother, for lots of support and encouragement to continue in hard times William Jagger, my best friend, for the idea to use Slow Motion, he also was going to be the the voice actor, but he left on vacation without notice... ...Oh yeah, did i mention that I'm 12 years old?
CG_GelPuzles PRE FINAL release! Title needed!
Alright here's the third release and ninth incarnation of CrazyGuy's Untitled Gel Puzzles. Chapter 8, Three chambers centered around the physics paint, and using the gel in ways that the original valve maps did not. Difficulty medium to hard. in area 1, the way OUT of the top to the next area is just above the three panels that fall down; you must bounce out. This is not a spoiler, I intend to have Wheately lines to hint at it. I have ADDED the much anticipated transition sequence between areas 2 and 3. I really want some Wheately lines to go with it, but for now just rememeber AFTER COMPLETING AREA 2 LOOK UP AND OUT. Also, a strange bug but for some reason the window on the top of the third chamber does not always open. If that happens for you, part of the exterior of area 3 is meant to see into the interior after the sequence ends, but sometimes that portal closes off for no aparrent reason. I KNOW THERE ARE FRAMERATE ISSUES IN THE TOP OF THE FIRST CHAMBER. I'm sorry about this but I've already done as much optimization as I can for that area. If anyone has the time they could look at the included .vmf and see if they have any suggestions. Please let me know what you think, and especially if any cheat solutions can be found. If you get stuck on area 3,
did you know that painting the UNDERSIDE of a lightbridge paints BOTH sides? yes, the blue paint does bleed through lightbridges.
Worn out custom signage for destroyed maps
These are the custom symbols I made for my map "White Room (reMiX by josepezdj)". I thought some mappers could like them and maybe want to use them in their maps They are not all the symbols that Portal2 uses, but since I have them all in layers in a PDN file, I can make any of the rest if someone needs it. Just say here and I'll go posting those that ppl need! Default location By default I haave them into my folder materials/josepezdj/signage_wasted, so create a folder like this so your hammer editor load them on the fly. If you prefer any of your folders, just edit the .VMTs changing the line for the $basetexture... for example: - "$basetexture" "josepezdj/signage_wasted/jose_wasted_signage_box_button" by: - "$basetexture" "mysignage/jose_wasted_signage_box_button" Or you can even change the name of the .VTFs themselves and put their new name there in the $basetexture line... Any doubt about this or any help anyone need just let me know! Reference screenshot jose Change Log - v1.1 (2013.10.17) => Lowered the brightness in the alpha channel so that they look less bright in game. - v1.2 (2014.06.29) => Added the "paint_dispenser", "bounce_gel", "laser_catcher" and 4 dots per Tmas98 request
sp_companion
I wanted to try to make a mini story where you need to get your beloved companion cube. I need to change a lot of things and add sound effects, more lighting and animations also need to change some of the textures and decals. I tried to have some dirty aperture as well as clean aperture and I need to add game text. It is not a hard map but hopefully people enjoy it anyway
