Pure Intellect²: A Lecture in Reanimation

An old map of mine that I recently gave a facelift to. Because it's old, there wasn't much I could do to optimize it, but I tried. So, it's an underground map that has 1 test chamber, lots of exploration, and a not-so-original story twist with an original implementation! All custom content is packed. Also, minor setback is that it doesn't automatically disconnect you because I couldn't be bothered to do another compile (this was intended for the Workshop only) So, welcome. Feedback is appreciated!

Combine Ball Prefab

A prefab of the combine ball launcher and catcher. Big thanks to Omnicoder for this! I basically (with permission) pulled it straight out of his excellent "Retrospective" map, cleaned up the names, and made a prefab. This package contains 3 files: * combine_ball.vmf : The prefab vmf file * combine_ball.vpk : Dependency VPK file (stand-alone) * combine_ball.bsp : prefab test map (as .bsp) [b:39fh1lb7]Usage:[/b:39fh1lb7] Very simply, distribute the combine_ball.vpk file with your map, and it can be placed into the 'steamapps\common\portal 2\portal2\addons' directory which Portal 2 loads on startup. Then, you can immediately copy-paste the prefab ball launcher & catcher. Alternatively, you can use the program GCFScape to extract the VPK file, combine these into your own files, and then create a new VPK file; this allows you to repackage the dependencies with your map. [b:39fh1lb7]Important note[/b:39fh1lb7]: You must use the .vpk file provided or create your own from these files. Simply copy-pasting the contents of the .vpk file into your portal2 directory (and not as a single .vpk in the addons directory) simply crashes the game from my experience. The identical files in a VPK then work without a problem. I haven't yet figured out why this is.

This turned out to be more like a GLaDOS voice test for me, but the chamber shows a new funel mechanic as well and its difficulty is medium. I spent quite a lot of time working on the textures and the evil GLaDOS traps and I'm proud of what I did (don't get angry if she's too harsh on you ). Check out Part 01 as well. AND MAKE SURE THE TURRETS DIE!!! Installation: Extract the compressed files in your ...Steam\SteamApps\common\Portal 2\portal2 folder, then open Portal 2 and type in the console "map turrets_overwatch_02".

Potato Packer is a GUI to BSPzip its like pakrat but this has support for portal 2 maps and pakrat does not. How to use Potato Packer 1. Click on file and select your BSPzip location this is usually located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\alien swarm\bin 2. Click on file and select the map you would like to pack. 3. From the file browsing list ( not in file inside of the actual program itself ) select the files you would like to pack by double clicking it. 4. Click on file and then Create Batch File this will create a batch file inside of the install folder 5. Run the batch file and enjoy your packed in files Known Bugs GUI is jumpy on windows seven I hope you all enjoy the program and packing in custom textures and etc into all of your portal 2 maps. Manic Mechanic - Portal map This is the public beta of my first Portal map. To install: - open a Windows Explorer window and navigate to C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\\portal (assuming the default installation path for Steam). - Copy the directory named "portal" from this package into the game directory. - Start Portal and choose the "Bonus Maps" option. - Double-click on th "HMW" folder, then double-click on the map icon to start playing. Known bugs: - poor performance (low framerate) in some sections of the map; - a few lighting errors. If you find any other bugs, please let me know: Visit forums.thinkingwithportals.com, Work In Progress forum, then look for the thread "[WIP] Manic Mechanic". Thanks for playing!

An easy hammer-made test with GLaDOS, an easter egg, a fresh new idea and everything. I spent 5 days working on this. it's my first hammer map and I'm impressed what I managed to do. have fun! AND MAKE SURE THE TURRETS DIE! I didn't quite manage to add the steam workshop page as a download page so now you can install this map manually by: -extracting the archive in your ...\Steam\SteamApps\common\Portal 2\portal2 folder -and typing "map lasertest" in the console after loading portal 2. Special thanks to XeZrunner for useful advice and for the skybox at the end.
