Aldez's Test Chamber

My first bonus map for Portal. This is my first bonus map for Portal. My goal wasn't to make a challenging map, but to make a map that covers many of the basic elements of Portal. I hope you enjoy it nevertheless. Another version of it was an entry in the February contest. In this version I've fixed a lot of minor bugs and hopefully got rid of all exploits. The map is embedded in a bmz file and it includes the least portals/steps/time challenges.

Challenges oriented around a central point. This is my second map for Portal. My first map (Aldéz's Test Chamber) was more of an experiment and a product of my struggle to learn Portal mapping. With this map I could finally use all the prefabs I have made and be more creative. It was almost ready for release last year, but another mapping project had to be prioritized . Now I have improved it further and I believe it is ready for release. How to install: 1) Extract the bmz file to any folder. 2) Launch Portal. 3) Go to Bonus Maps. 3) Click the button "Import Bonus Maps..." 4) Find the file named "aldez_bonusmaps.bmz" and open it. How to uninstall: 1) Go to the "...\Steam\steamapp\YOUR STEAM ACCOUNT NAME\portal\portal\maps" folder. 2) Delete the folder named "aldez_bonusmaps". 3) Go to the "...\Steam\steamapp\YOUR STEAM ACCOUNT NAME\portal\portal\maps\graphs" folder. 4) Delete the folder named "aldez_bonusmaps". 5) Go to the "...\Steam\steamapp\YOUR STEAM ACCOUNT NAME\portal\portal\maps\soundcache" folder. 6) Delete the folder named "aldez_bonusmaps". Changelog version 1.0.2 - The buttons can no longer be pushed down by the turrets. - Portal bumpers have been added over some windows. - Some textures have been perfected. - The rotating indicator panels are now silent when they are getting into their start position. version 1.0.1 - The lightrail platforms has been moved up to be level with the floor.

Manic Mechanic - Portal map This is the public beta of my first Portal map. To install: - open a Windows Explorer window and navigate to C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\\portal (assuming the default installation path for Steam). - Copy the directory named "portal" from this package into the game directory. - Start Portal and choose the "Bonus Maps" option. - Double-click on th "HMW" folder, then double-click on the map icon to start playing. Known bugs: - poor performance (low framerate) in some sections of the map; - a few lighting errors. If you find any other bugs, please let me know: Visit forums.thinkingwithportals.com, Work In Progress forum, then look for the thread "[WIP] Manic Mechanic". Thanks for playing!

New glass models of the Vactubes (just glass variants). The models will have visible glass inside and outside. They won't override the normal models or materials. The .vpk file if for sharing the map with other players (so they don't have missing models). Always put it to Steam\steamapps\common\portal 2\portal2\addons Attention: Just use in situations you really need inside glass, because the double count of polygons for the inside!

My fist portalgun reskin. Navigate to your Portal 2 game directory, located at: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\portal 2\ Make a copy of the file pak01_dir. Extract files pak01_dir and materials to the aforementioned Portal 2 directory. Replace any files you may be warned about. I do not like to write a great description, so I will tell a brief indication of where it is necessary to lay down the files... Extract two folders from the archive: maps and materials; in Steam\steamapps\common\Portal\portal.

I take no credit for making the files contained. I just put them together for others to enjoy. There are 2 pak01_dir.vpk files. One contains the portalgun as clean/HD, the other as normal. They both contain the "Hand under Portalgun" and "HD Portals". Portalgun: http://portal2.gamebanana.com/skins/109485 Portals: http://gamebanana.com/portal/skins/34365 Hand w/Portalgun: http://www.facepunch.com/threads/108234 ... st30007126 Place these inside a folder labelled "portal2_dlc3" in the Steam\Steamapps\Common\Portal2 directory Credit goes to sicklebrick for the tutorial on how to do this!

Light Catcher puzzle element

This contains the instances and other files mappers need to utilize the new Light Catcher element (as seen here Gathering Light). Archive contains versions for both Hammer mappers, as well as users of BEE2. Installation notes (from the readme.txt): If you aren't utilizing the Puzzle Maker w/ the BEE2 mod, simply extract the "mironos" folder from sdk_content\maps\instances to the equivalent location in your Portal 2 directory. For BEE2 users: Extract all files in this archive to your Portal 2 directory Run StyleChanger once Close and reopen BEE2. The Light Catcher element should appear in most style collections by default Note This archive contains two instances of the Light Catcher. These instances are identical, with the exception of their origins and orientations within Hammer. BEE2 will use the instance in the p2editor folder, whereas Hammer users will likely find it more convenient to use the version inside the "mironos" folder.
