The first map I've ever made for Portal. It's a quick, simple one. Oh and criticism is an awesome thing, provide some. (:

Come into a room where you have to go through a few linked laser puzzles to get to a button which gives access to a light bridge and will then require a series of light bridge based puzzles to get to a box. This is my first complete map and it has been a learning experience. I'm aware I have a very poor judgement of size within hammer, hopefull I'll be able to better address that in future maps. Either way, I hope you enjoy it for what it is. walkthrough: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o21fgHA6zME

My Entry for the ThinkingWithPortals Summer Mapping Initiative! -INSTALLATION- Place the maps folder under steamapps/common/portal 2/portal2. If it asks to overwrite say yes, you won't lose anything. -TO PLAY- Once installed, in game open the developer console (`) and type "map sp_grox_dis_en", then hit enter. If your just playing, you can delete the mapsrc folder as that is only for the competition and not required to play. -SPECIAL THANKS TO:- -Portal2Player -Omnicoder -Smasher -Fearlezz -Motanum -T3X -JonhBigOz -and everyone else who helped me with my map who I may have forgotten! My first Portal 2 map, and part of my Entry series which is still in the works. I'm submitting this map for the contest. A seemingly simple small puzzle map that requires a little thinking to solve.

A medium skilled co-op chamber for the Summer Mapping Initiative contest. The chamber includes a spawn and exit elevator plus the following Portal 2 elements: fling, turrets, laser, laser cube, light bridge and a catapult. A testing sphere containing two puzzles, one has a button on the wall and the other has a box gliding while you race the clock to get to the end. Set in the 70's, in underground Aperture. UPDATE: Remade the box slide - removed the blue gel, made slide steeper and blocked the player from jumping into it.

This is my entry to the Summer Mapping Initiative. It features Crushers, Orange gel, Excursion funnels and cubes. What more could you need?

The Room (Precision, Timing, and Solving)

UPDATED for competition! v2 should be a more interesting play. This intentionally awesome title gives very little away, and leaves all the surprises of THE ROOM for the player to experience. It is worth mentioning that the idea for this map came from: (1) having the player start at what looks like the end, (2) making the player navigate backwards through testchambers [which appear partially solved], and (3) having the player get to what should be the "beginning", and then solve his/her way to the end. [Thus, some portions have much activity going on, and part of the challenge is to determine which puzzle element belongs to which 'direction.'] There is an emphasis--at times, without making it too difficult--on precision and timing, but I'd like to think that The Room is as satisfying, if not more, to figure out. Note: the file that I am submitting for the competition is 'the_room_v2.rar'. The other file is the original one I had included to be playtested, which will still remain--but it is NOT my official submission. If necessary to avoid confusion, I will take it down. EDIT: I must have uploaded the new file to REPLACE the old file. For anyone interested, the old map can be found at: community-releases/the-room-t2984.html
