My first Underground map, and first released Portal 2 map, but not my first one. Lets see, it has old-style Faith Plates, wait, those have been done already. It also has Gel Cubes, wait, reepblue's making those too. Argh. To put it shortly, it somewhat sucks. But tell me if you're having difficulties/bugs, and I'll respond. [Changelog] Made it more clear what to do and what things do. Tried my best to clear the exploit where you can beat the map without the Repulsion Gel Other crap I can't remember I hope I'm not late!

Do you want a quick way to make a wake up scene in your map? download this file of the hotel wake up scene used in the map "The lone future-starter". The file contains: A vmf with the Hotel wake up room (interior and exterior). A bsp for you see how it is compiled. =)

Felix Griffin and usCobra11 present, The Shadows of Time, Episode 1. Some physicists say that much of the universe consists of Dark Matter, but our research at Aperture has shown that up to 90% of that may be nothing but useless Sort-Of-Dark-But-Still-Pretty-Light Matter. The remaining useful 10%, Darker Matter, has proven useful in controlling the flow of time... Five short tests made for the mAI contest. Source code included. Enjoy!

Small map, Very hard difficulty: enjoy Version 2: Fixed the exploit in which players could ninja onto the windows. Version 3: Added lasers, and an extra beam with linked button to guide players to the intended solution, and block an overly-easy solution. Version 5: Narrowed down the portal surfaces so there would be less confusion as to where to start working towards the solution. More elegant fixes to the exploits as opposed to putting walls up everywhere, and some targets to help where aiming is critical, and avoid players having to redo a sequence because of mistakes. Version 6: coming tomorrow- expanding a certain portion of the map to give a more generous timeframe where time is critical, and to give players more time to explore possible options. As of now, version 6 is released! Alot of changes to the layout. Performing the solution is now much easier, however, finding out the solution is still just as difficult. That's the goal- to make a puzzle that challenges the mind, not the reflexes. Version 7: Fixed another (very clever) exploit. The button now has a second preventative function. I did this as opposed to opting to make the lasers deadly, which would have also fixed the problem. I want to prevent exploits, but not make it frustrating. If making the lasers deadly would be preferable to adding the portal-blocker to the button, let me know. I decided it some complication added would be better than getting the player killed and having them start over after trying a certain solution. Let me know what you think. As of 9/6/11. I may have finished updating/polishing this map- ready to move on: I see downloads are still going up, and rating has been between 4 and 5- and so far, no reported exploits or issues. I'm going to take this all as a good sign, considering at version 4, the rating was 3 out of 5, and I had less than 100 downloads. Version 9! I fixed a final exploit with another laser (and playerclip, so the laser needn't be deadly). Added the indicator lights to avoid confusion over the function of a button as well version 10 Fixed a mistake with update 9, which didn't fully fix the exploit. Now I got it! Version 11: Finally- exploits fixed, some minor aesthetic additions and indicative signs for guidance. Not as extensive a facelift as I wanted to give the map- but some odd game crashes are making it slow to test out changes. Should be very playable, but still quite difficult. Enjoy!

This is my entry for the Portal 2 Summer Mapping Initiative Contest! This Chamber is relatively simple but utilises a variety of Portal 2's puzzle mechanics and hopefully makes for a difficult but enjoyable map. Before we start, however, keep in mind that although fun and learning are the primary goals of this enrichment center activity, this is my very first map! Enjoy!

Portal 2 Pre-release/Beta Pack

It's finally here, after months and months of getting no where, I've got it at least started. The Portal 2 Pre-release/Beta Pack is a texture, and aesthetic pack that recreates the look and feel of Portal 2 we saw back at E3 2010 - PAX 2010. I've seen a lot of beta/pre-release maps that use the stock textures and looks and it does not do the justice! What is included? - New Metal Walls. - Shinier dirty walls. - Beta looking Observation rooms. - Portal 1 Observation Rooms. - Beta light strips. - Green Goo - Screenshot samples - Portal 1 Button Switch - Vscripts that swap out the Portal 2 turret and Portal 2 Button switch to the Portal 1 version. - 2 Example maps by Kyo and Me. - Whirls for the Portals. (Need VPK override) - Different glass texture for the Portal Door. (Need VPK override) (NOTE: I still need someone to find a way to get the sick figure to show on the portal door. He is in the model itself, but the glass texture needs to only show him.) Q & A Q: Why did you do this? There is a reason why Valve changed stuff. A: Because I'm one of those people who love what Valve does not release a tad more on what they do end up shipping. I'm sure there are mappers who feel the same way. Q: Is this an override? A: No, it's separate. All the textures are under the folder "betapack". To ship your map, just pakrat (or include) that folder, and the models and material/models folders included. Q: Does it include instances? A: Yes Q: Does it include the vmf of the sample maps? A: No Q: Can I help with anything? A: Sure, feel free to contribute to anything and I'll add it to this package. Special thanks to Kyo for testing the pack and allowing me to ship the map with this!
